A local IT firm has opened a new sales and engineering office in the Southeast U.S.

Grand Rapids-based Data Strategy said this month it has expanded its multi-city footprint with a new office in Atlanta.

Data Strategy will hire 25 to 30 employees at the Atlanta office for sales, engineering, consulting and services delivery.

The company did not disclose its expenditures on the new location.

Dana Jacks, president of Data Strategy, said the company evaluated several options before deciding to expand to Atlanta.

“Atlanta made the most sense, especially for its centralized location in the region and for its access to outstanding technical talent,” Jacks said.

Looking ahead

Sean Raftery, a former VP with EMC, will serve as general manager for the Atlanta office.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the initial receptivity to our business model in the area,” he said. “We look forward to meeting Atlanta business leaders to demonstrate our integration capabilities.”

Data Strategy also hired Dan Sedney to serve as the region’s sales manager.

“We’re extremely excited to be moving into the Southeast,” Sedney said. “We’re looking to capitalize on our success with the company’s Michigan roots, and we are looking forward to expanding our cloud and data infrastructure in the new hub.”

The company will have about 210 employees across its Atlanta office and other offices: Grand Rapids; Troy; Cincinnati; Indianapolis; Louisville and Lexington, Kentucky; and New Albany, Indiana.
