A “health-casual” restaurant chain has opened a location along a major retail corridor in Grand Rapids.

Freshii, which offers a menu of “healthy options” and “high-quality ingredients,” opened yesterday at Knapp’s Crossing, at 2002 E. Beltline Ave. NE.

Freshii offers a customizable menu of breakfast, soups, salads, wraps, bowls, burritos, frozen yogurt, juices and smoothies.

The restaurant also caters to people’s dietary and taste preferences with its varied menu.

Freshii also operates a downtown Grand Rapids location, at 146 Monroe Center St. NW.

Matthew Corrin opened the first Freshii location in Toronto in 2005. He’d previously lived in New York and had observed many fresh “mom and pop” delis, but became determined to bring a new concept to the fast-casual model: health casual.

Freshii has a global mission to help individuals live longer and healthier lives by making “fresh food convenient and affordable.”

By the end of 2016, Freshii plans to operate more than 300 locations across more than 85 cities in 20 countries.
