A local talent competition will draw to a close Saturday as judges and an audience select the winners from 15 finalists.

The top-three performers in GR's Big Talent will be selected by a panel of local judges and via live, text-message audience voting after the finalists perform one last time.

Awards are $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place and $250 for third place.

One winner will be selected to perform at numerous public events downtown throughout the year.

The finale will feature the winner of last year’s GR’s Big Talent, vocalist Ja’Leeyna Dooley. The event will begin at 6 p.m. in Grand Rapids at the Peter Martin Wege Theater, home of the Grand Rapids Ballet, at 341 Ellsworth Ave. SW.

GR After Hours, a nonprofit formerly called The Arena District, has hosted the competition for the past five years.

Tickets can be purchased online and are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
