The YWCA honored a group of female “leaders and trailblazers” from the community at its annual Tribute Awards luncheon.

The event by YWCA West Central Michigan was held yesterday at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids.

YWCA Tribute Award honorees are selected in a number of categories for their “extraordinary efforts to strengthen our community.”

There are seven Tribute categories: advocacy; arts; business, management, industry and labor; community service; professions; sports, fitness and wellness; and student.

Because developing leaders among young women is key to the YWCA's vision, the YWCA Tribute Student Honoree also receives the Judy Lloyd Student Leadership Award Scholarship.

This $2,000 award is designated to help student honorees achieve their educational goals after graduation from high school.
