A new sports bar is being built on a major retail corridor in Grand Rapids.

Suburban Inns said yesterday it broke ground on Big E’s Sports Grill, at 2325 E. Beltline Ave. SE, next to its Hilton Garden Inn site and near Woodland Mall.

The restaurant and hotel are expected to open early in 2017 and employ between 110-130 people total.

The 8,000 square foot, stand-alone restaurant will feature more than 60 beers on tap and more than 50 TVs for watching sports.

It will be the third Big E’s Sports Grill owned and operated by Suburban Inns. The other locations are in Holland and Midland.

Suburban Inns also owns Sharkees on U.S. 31 in Holland at the company’s Hampton Inn.

Hilton Garden Inn

The four story, 144-room Hilton Garden Inn is about 93,600 square feet and has meeting space for 144 people.

The hotel also features a Michigan-shaped pool, indoor and outdoor spa and fitness center.

Suburban Inns

Founded in Holland in 1979, Suburban Inns owns and operates hotels and restaurants in Holland, Grand Rapids and Midland.
