A luxury travel guide published in the U.K. has named a hotel in the region its Luxury Design Hotel of the Year for Michigan.

CityFlatsHotel in Holland, at 61 East 7th St., said last month it received the award from Birmingham, U.K.-based Luxury Travel Guide.

The guide provides an objective look at top quality holiday destinations, hotels, spas, entertainment and other resort properties aimed at affluent travelers.

Guide staff travel worldwide to identify the most reputable, deluxe and service-minded hotels to recommend to their subscribers seeking unique vacation accommodations.

CityFlatsHotel offers individually designed guest rooms in urban contemporary styling.

The Holland location has 56 rooms, including junior and master suites. Each suite has locally crafted furniture and oversized windows for “openness and maximum” sunlight. Many rooms have cork flooring and large walk-in showers.

Jaycee Garrow, CityFlatsHotel marketing coordinator, said the recognition represents the “pinnacle of hospitality achievement.”

"This particular travel guide is especially prestigious and used by many of our guests, which is why we worked very hard to win their 2016 award," Garrow said.

CityFlatsHotel also has an additional 48-room property in Grand Rapids and a third hotel under construction in Port Huron, which will offer 36 rooms.

Luxury Travel Guide's selection process emphasizes “high-end” lodging accommodations and services in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil and the Caribbean.
