Real estate firm joins international franchise
A luxury real estate firm in the region has joined an international franchise.
Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies said last month it has acquired Holland-based Summit Properties, a firm specializing in waterfront real estate.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Summit Properties will operate as Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt at its office on 691 Ottawa Beach Rd. in Holland. Woodland Schmidt also has offices on 16th Street in Holland, Saugatuck, Grand Haven, Muskegon, Hart and Whitehall.
“(Summit Properties Founder) Tom Speet and his Summit Properties team have a strong reputation for quality and high-level real estate service,” Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt President Jack Bouman said. “The core business model of Summit Properties is an excellent addition to the historic values of our firm.”
Speet founded Summit Properties in 1990.
The firm had seven team members, including VP Beth Foley, a past president of Michigan Realtors.
Speet said Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies was the best fit for the firm after several offers from other luxury franchises.
“As an independent brokerage, we found it difficult to keep up with the ever-changing marketing tools needed to best serve our clients,” Speet said. “We concluded that Coldwell Banker Schmidt Family of Companies is leading the market in luxury, exceptional marketing, tools and branding.”
Founded in 1927, Coldwell Schmidt Family of Companies has 68 offices in Michigan, Ohio and Florida, with more than 1,300 sales associates.
The firm said it's "the number-one company" for the international Coldwell Banker franchise in the northern region of the U.S.
