A husband-and-wife team has opened the first West Michigan location for a Neapolitan pizza franchise.

MidiCi celebrated yesterday its official grand opening in Holland at The Shops at Westshore, at 12371 James St.

The location is owned by franchisees Lisa Hartt and Zachrey Hartt of Grand Rapids.

MidiCi is an “upscale” pizza chain that features a handcrafted menu with traditional and signature Italian dishes, made with fresh, non-GMO ingredients.

Los Angeles-based restaurateurs and chefs Peppe Miele and Mario Vollera developed the menu, which also features gourmet appetizers, artisan burrats, salads and a variety of craft beers and wines.

MidiCi said its uses authentic wood-fired ovens, custom hand built in Naples, Italy, by “generations of artisanal oven makers.”

MidiCi first opened in Los Angeles last summer, and the franchise projects opening 450 restaurants over the next eight years.
