Six West Michigan attorneys have been named winners of a statewide legal publication’s annual award for lawyers.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly announced this month it selected 30 attorneys across the state for its Leaders in the Law class of 2017.

The awards will be presented at the publication’s annual luncheon and awards celebration on March 23 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly said the honorees were chosen based on “significant accomplishments or achievements in law practice, outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan, leadership in improving the justice system in Michigan, seeking improvements to the legal community and their communities at large and setting an example for other lawyers.”

Of the 30 winners, a 2017 Lawyer of the Year will be selected by a vote by members of the 2017 class.

All of the honorees will be profiled in a special section of Michigan Lawyers Weekly in March.
