Downtown hosts conference on retail real estate

West Michigan real estate professionals will discuss retail topics and network at a conference downtown next month.

A variety of retail experts will speak at the International Council of Shopping Centers, or ICSC, 14th-annual West Michigan P3 Retail Program, which takes place March 7 in Grand Rapids at the JW Marriott, at 235 Louis St. NW.

Registration and pre-event networking begin at 12:30 p.m., with panels starting at 1 p.m. and a networking reception from 3:45-6 p.m.

More than 200 real estate professionals are expected to be in attendance.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or on site for $50 for members and $65 for non-members.

Topics and panelists

“TED Talks”

Colliers West Michigan associate Chris Prins will moderate a session called “TED Talks.”

The panel will consist of four members: Maplegrove CEO Steve Calverley; The Right Place VP of Strategic Initiatives Rick Chapla; Michael Khouri, VP of leasing at PREIT, Woodland Mall’s owner; and Moosejaw Director of Retail Nick Rau.

Redevelopment

The Redevelopment Ready Communities panel will be moderated by Michelle Parkkonen, manager of MEDC’s Redevelopment Ready Communities.

The panel will consist of four members: Muskegon Zoning Administrator Mike Franzak; Lormax Stern General Counsel Jason Horton; Kalamazoo City Planner Rebekah Kik; and Battle Creek Planning Manager Christine Zuzga.

West Michigan update

Colliers West Michigan VP Mike Murray will moderate the West Michigan Development Update panel.

The panel will consist of three members: Lormax Stern Partner Chris Brochert; Ada Planning Director James Ferro; and CWD Real Estate Investment Managing Partner Scott Wierda.
