Construction firm adds to team
A local construction firm has hired seven new employees.
Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., or O-A-K, said this winter it hired five project superintendents, a carpenter and a billing clerk.
Five of the additions are in Grand Rapids and two are in Kalamazoo.
Grand Rapids office
Jerry Moomey, Joe O’Connor and Ralph Shiffer have joined the Grand Rapids office as superintendents.
Moomey has 28 years of commercial construction experience, specializing in interior finishes and health care construction.
O’Connor has 15 years of field construction experience and holds a construction management degree from Ferris State University and received professional military instruction from the Marine Corps Institute.
Shiffer has 10 years of experience and has a degree from Ferris State. He also holds a Storm Water Certification from the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality and has a background in carpentry.
Jim Marsman came to O-A-K as a carpenter after 33 years in the construction industry, working in a variety of trades, from concrete laborer to steel worker. He has an Airframe and Powerplant License from the Spartan School of Aeronautics and Technology.
A 2013 graduate of Grand Valley State University, Mandalyn Powers serves as a billing clerk. She has worked in the insurance industry and has a Resident Producer Property & Casualty License.
Tim Robinson and Chris Pillars have joined the Kalamazoo O-A-K office as project superintendents.
Robinson has worked in the construction industry for more than 20 years and has his Storm Water Certification from the MDEQ.
Pillars has 29 years of experience in the industry as a journeyman carpenter and holds his Health Care Construction Certificate from the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.
