Since 2000, there has been approximately $3 billion worth of construction in Grand Rapids, including more than $1.7 billion since 2012.

Along with the rapid influx in development dollars, more than 4,050 residential units have been added to the city since 2011, including more than 1,500 last year. To help residents keep track of the development, the city of Grand Rapids Planning Department and Development Center released a packet of 2016-17 building projects, including complete, under construction, planned and proposed projects of the past two years.

Ten projects finished last year or earlier this year, including Fulton Place, 616 W. Fulton St.; New Holland Knickerbocker, 417 Bridge St. NW; The Rowe, 201 Michigan St. NW; and 20 Monroe Live.

There are nearly 20 projects under construction worth more than $584 million, including the MSU Research Center, 155 Michigan St. NW; Embassy Suites, 710 Monroe Ave. NW; and the residential building at 234 Market St. SW.

The package lists more than 20 projects and more than $600 million worth of projects in the planning stages or proposed, including Hinman Tower, 10 Ionia Ave. NW; Studio C, 111 Ionia Ave. SW; and 50 Monroe.
