Law firm elects partners to management committee
A statewide law firm based downtown has elected three partners to its management committee.
Warner Norcross & Judd said this month it elected Charles Burpee, Susan Gell Meyers and Jonathan Kok to serve three-year terms on the committee, which oversees the firm’s strategy and operations.
Managing Partner Douglas Dozeman chairs the 10-person committee for Warner Norcross, the largest law firm headquartered in West Michigan and the second largest in the state.
Other attorneys on the committee include Loren Andrulis, John Byl, Rob Davies, Brian Lang, Mark Wassink, Stephen Waterbury and the firm’s executive director, Bruce Clearing-Sky Christensen.
Burpee is a patent attorney specializing in intellectual property. He works with the automotive, lighting, control systems, electronics and manufacturing industries, among others. A dual-degree engineer, Burpee has been recognized as an IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property magazine. He has held numerous leadership positions professionally and within the community and serves as board chair for the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.
Susan Gell Meyers
As chair of the firm’s trusts and estates practice group, Meyers focuses her practice on estate and tax planning for individuals, owners of family and closely held businesses and other professionals. She has been recognized as one of the “Leading Women in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Meyers serves on the board of Blandford Nature Center and is a member of the Family Business Alliance and Inforum.
Kok specializes in labor relations and employment compliance issues, from union negotiations to unfair competition and discrimination. He is chair of the firm’s labor and employment practice group.
