A pair of partners are planning to open an “escape room” downtown.

The Ruse Escape Rooms has acquired a 3,446-square-foot space in Grand Rapids, at 25 Division Ave. S, according to NAI Wisinski of West Michigan today.

Currently being renovated, co-owners Steve Myers and Bill Wiegandt expect the location to open this fall.

It is the first location for the business and is a result of the love Myers and Wiegandt have for their hometown.

“The space is full of character and provides the perfect setting for an immersive escape room experience,” Wiegandt said.

Escape rooms challenge customers to solve puzzles to tell a story and escape a room, promoting “creative thinking, teamwork and communication.”

Myers added that the space may be used for date nights, parties and team building.

“The Ruse looks forward to becoming a part of Grand Rapids’ already vibrant downtown culture,” Myers said.

Myers and Wiegandt were represented in the real estate deal by NAI Wisinski of West Michigan’s Doug Taatjes, Hillary Taatjes Woznick and Kurt Kunst.

NAI Wisinski also represented the unnamed seller.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
