Assets from a recently closed Grand Rapids retailer are being auctioned off this month.

Items from Family Christian’s distribution center and corporate office, both in Grand Rapids, are being auctioned by Grand Rapids-based Liquid Asset Partners on Liquidap.com.

An online catalog of the assets will be available online this week.

Previews of the locations are available on Friday and Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The online auction ends at 10 a.m. on April 24.

Family Christian announced in February it would close its 240 locations across the country, because of “changing consumer behavior and declining sales.”

The company filed for bankruptcy in 2015, but it re-organized and stayed open an additional two years.

“We had two very difficult years post-bankruptcy,” Family Christian President Chuck Bengochea said at the time. “Despite improvements in product assortment and the store experience, sales continued to decline. In addition, we were not able to get the pricing and terms we needed from our vendors to successfully compete in the market.”
