Nonprofit hires CEO
A nonprofit focused on helping struggling families has named its new CEO.
Grand Rapids-based Catholic Charities West Michigan said today it hired Kathleen Allen for the role, effective May 1.
Allen is currently a staff attorney for Legal Aid of Western Michigan in Grand Rapids, where she's worked for 20 years.
She's also been serving as vice chair of Catholic Charities West Michigan’s board.
She holds a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a law degree from the Valparaiso School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana.
Most Reverend David Walkowiak, bishop of the Diocese of Grand Rapids, welcomed Allen to the position, and Juan Salazar, chair of the board, said Allen will bring the “needed expertise and energy” to the job.
Catholic Charities West Michigan serves individuals in need in 11 counties, providing clothing, food and other social services.
