Chamber honors Entrepreneurs of Excellence
A chamber of commerce in the region has named 11 Entrepreneurs of Excellence for their innovation and impact on the community.
The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual E-Awards luncheon yesterday at Muskegon Country Club to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship along the lakeshore.
At the event, the chamber selected Rob Riegler, owner of Lakeside Surfaces, as the 2017 Outstanding Entrepreneur out of the 11 honorees.
A representative from the chamber said a committee of past Entrepreneurs of Excellence selected Riegler, because he “rose to the top. His business started in his garage, and his new facility is opening this week at 2265 Black Creek Rd. off Sherman Boulevard.”
The chamber cited Riegler’s business health as a factor in his selection, as well as his hiring practices for Lakeside Service’s 129 full-time employees and the community involvement he fosters as part of the company culture.
“What’s unique about Lakeside Services is they have a committee that selects charities to donate to, and they’ve created a way for employees to select other charities or projects they feel passionate about, so the company can get involved and donate to those smaller projects as well,” the chamber said.
Past Entrepreneur of Excellence Kathleen Riegler, founder of The Cheese Lady, spoke at the event.
The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce has recognized outstanding entrepreneurs each year since 1982.
Award recipients are chosen by a committee comprised of past entrepreneur award winners.
