Two hard ciders from a West Michigan company are now available at local retailers.

Grant-based Ridge Cider Co. began shipments of Hop’D and Porch Sittin’ to Grand Rapids-area Meijer stores, D&W Fresh Markets and other independent retailers.

Until recently, the cider maker’s products have been in restaurants, bars and the company’s tasting room.

At the retailers, the ciders are in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles.

The first two ciders in distribution are the dry-hopped Hop’d, with three varieties of hops with citrus tones, and the vanilla-cinnamon Porch Sittin’. A third cider, a summer seasonal raspberry cider, will be released in June.

“Hop’d and Porch Sittin’ are our two most-popular ciders, and its time for us to expand outside of the cider house and expose these flavors, and our distinct style of cider, to a wider audience,” said Matt DeLong, founder, Ridge Cider Co. “We love to have customers experience our operation and tap room in Grant, and this will allow our fans to enjoy and share Ridge products in the comfort of their home.”

Founded in 2015 by DeLong and Bruce Rasch, Ridge Cider Co. produces more than 30 types of cider, including variations with honey, cherries and hibiscus.

Last year, DeVos family members purchased a 51-percent share of the company.
