A cosmetology instructor with a passion for natural hair care has opened a beauty school.

Theresa Mosley opened Mosley School of Cosmetology last month in Kentwood, at 4454 Breton Rd. SE.

She and her employee and part-owner Summer Williams are licensed cosmetology instructors with experience on hair of all textures.

Williams will teach cosmetology licensing and natural hair care classes, and Mosley will run the business and help out with instruction as needed.

Classes

Full-time instruction runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and part-time enrollment is from 5-10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Space allows for 60 students between the morning and night sessions.

The school offers a 1,500-hour cosmetology program and a 400-hour natural hair care licensing program. Mosley said this is the first time a natural hair care certificate program has been offered in West Michigan.

Vision

Mosley said her goal for the school is to build strong leaders to fill roles in the $40-billion salon and spa industry.

“I am ecstatic to open Mosley School of Cosmetology,” she said. “This has been a dream come true. It has been my vision to bring quality education that will help students graduate with confidence, knowledge and skills to build their business.”

Experience

Mosley specializes in hair extensions and healthy hair and brings more than 14 years of experience to the role. She has a bachelor’s degree in business management from Cornerstone University.

Williams previously taught aesthetician, nail and full cosmetology licensing courses at Booker Cosmetology in Hudsonville, which is now closed. She studied nutrition at Michigan State University.

Tuition and financial aid

Tuition and fees for the cosmetology program are $15,000, and the natural hair care program costs $5,160.

Mosley offers grants, scholarships and zero-percent interest payment plans.
