There’s a new director at a local construction firm.

Grand Rapids-based Rockford Construction said last month it appointed Christine Freeman to be its director of pre-construction.

Freeman will lead the company’s in-house pre-construction team and oversee budgeting, bid packages, scheduling and feasibility.

Shane Napper, president of Rockford Construction, said Freeman’s skillset will allow the firm to "continue to provide front-end pre-construction services that ensure a project’s long-term success.”

Freeman’s background

Freeman has more than 15 years of experience in the construction industry, including in project management and on-site supervision.

She joined Rockford in 2011 and has been an estimator and pre-construction manager in her time at the firm.

Previously, as a member of a design-build company, Freeman managed the $36-million construction of the Michigan State University Federal Credit Union headquarters.

Freeman is also LEED accredited and CM-BIM certified.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design and a master’s degree in construction management from Michigan State University.
