A two-year-old restaurant on the West Side has closed.

Black Heron Kitchen & Bar in Grand Rapids, at 428 Bridge St. NW, recently posted the following message on its front door: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Black Heron will be CLOSED until further notice. Thank you for your loyal patronage!”

Owner Seth Porter hasn’t responded to a message left by the Business Journal.

Porter did confirm the closure on a Facebook post in the DrinkGR group.

“Black Heron, unfortunately, has closed its doors forever,” he says.

A car crashed through one of the front windows of the restaurant earlier this month. The window is still boarded up.

Black Heron opened in June 2015 as a “Michigan-focused kitchen and bar, featuring upscale contemporary cooking, paired with a carefully sourced beer and cider list.”
