A new Mexican restaurant is being planned for downtown Grand Rapids.

CDKI Restaurant Group is working on the establishment, which would be located at 118 Fulton St. E.

The company introduced the restaurant concept through an application for a liquor license through the Downtown Development Authority, which was approved earlier this week. The process will move to the city commission in July.

CDKI also plans to invest $75,000 into the building, which formerly housed Brian’s Books, for a new kitchen and equipment.

“The menu will feature fresh ingredients and creative dishes,” says Lisa Gavranovic, director of business development, CDKI Restaurant Group, in the application. “We feel that remodeling the current building into a restaurant is a great addition to the neighborhood. We are excited to join the activity and growth in downtown Grand Rapids.”

CDKI has operated Sandy Point Beach House in West Olive for five years.
