A consumer products retailer has opened its first store in West Michigan.

Detroit-based Shinola opened yesterday a location at Tanger Outlets in Byron Center, at 350 84th St. SW.

The store is next to Vera Bradley.

Shinola sells watches, leather products, bicycles, journals, shoe polish and more.

Shinola has more than 24 stores across the U.S., mostly in major metropolitan markets, such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco, Denver, Boston and Washington, D.C.

International stores include Toronto and London.

Shinola was founded in 2011 by Tom Kartsotis, a founder of Fossil Group, and is owned by Bedrock Brands.

The company’s aim was to bring watch manufacturing back to the U.S.
