A nationwide moving and junk-removal business now has a second West Michigan location.

Chad Jacob opened a College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving franchise this month in Portage, at 5162 Sprinkle Rd.

The location will serve customers in Kalamazoo, Calhoun, Van Buren, Allegan, Cass and Berrien counties.

College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving, which has been featured on TV shows such as “Blue Collar Millionaire” and “Shark Tank,” also offers donation pickups, general labor and more.

The "Hunks" in the franchise's name stands for honest, uniformed, nice, knowledgeable service.

The franchise says it donates or recycles more than 60 percent of the items it removes.

Franchisee

The Portage franchisee has worked in the hauling and moving industry for more than 17 years. Jacob said he's excited to provide a stress-free experience for customers.

“My goal is to ensure that everyone in southwest Michigan knows and recognizes the brand College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving,” he said. “I am committed to servicing the surrounding community and providing excellent customer service during every single junk-removal or move.”

"Core values"

College Hunks said its core values include building leaders, creating a fun, enthusiastic team environment and listening to customers.

Nick Friedman, College Hunks president and co-founder, said one of the reasons the company awarded franchise rights to Jacob is because he wants to build leaders.

“We are very aggressive when it comes to growth, but we want to do it the right way,” Friedman said. “That means, first and foremost, finding the right franchise partner. We only want to work with people who are enthusiastic about what we have built as a company and who believe in our mantra of ‘move the world.’

“Chad and his team live and breathe our core values, and clients are going to be blown away by the level of service they receive.”
