A brewery in the region has created a second taproom at its property.

Saugatuck Brewing Co. said today it will open a secondary taproom at its brewery in Douglas, at 2948 Blue Star Highway.

Opening July 14, the new room, The Barrel Room, is located in the former Singapore Room banquet hall, which was recently reconstructed.

The new room looks in on a large cooler with more than 300 oak barrels in the midst of aging a variety of Saugatuck Brewing Co. beers.

The Barrel Room can offer up to 15 beers on tap and will feature a variety of the barrel-aged beers aging in the cooler, as well as other Saugatuck Brewing flagship beers.

The full menu from the main taproom will not be available, but some snacks will be offered.

Games and TVs will highlight the activities in the room, ranging from shuffleboard to pinball to darts.

Founded in 2005, Saugatuck Brewing Co. produced 11,000 barrels of beer in 2016 and distributes beer in multiple states: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Florida, New Jersey and Nebraska.
