An IT firm based on the state's east side has moved into the West Michigan market.

Clinton Township-based GRIT Technologies said yesterday it is leasing an office at the Cascade Business Center in Grand Rapids, at 6157 28th St. SE.

“We are elated to be expanding to the number-one city in the country for job growth,” said Amy Zmikly, marketing and account manager, GRIT Technologies.

The firm recently purchased and renovated a building in Clinton Township for its headquarters, and Zmikly said the company hopes to do the same in Grand Rapids.

Founded in 2008, GRIT Technologies provides IT services to small- and mid-size businesses and has more than 20 employees.

"This is an extremely exciting time for everyone at GRIT," said Greg Bischer, president and CEO, GRIT Technologies.  "We have many great business partners in southeastern Michigan, and our Grand Rapids expansion is part of the vision we've had as a company for some time.”

The Grand Rapids office will be led by GRIT Technologies Director of Business Development Paul Bischer.

Bischer has 20 years of marketing, sales and leadership experience. He hold a bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from Wayne State University.

His hiring comes after four other hires since the beginning of 2017.

Smikly said the firm will hire technicians and engineers in the next six to 12 months as its West Michigan business grows.
