A mobile app developer in the region is hosting a workshop this week.

Julie Abel, owner of JabberDesign, is hosting a free local business app workshop at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday in Zeeland at the Howard Miller Community Center, at 14 S. Church St.

The workshop focuses on apps that help organizations, such as restaurants and nonprofits, extend their reach in the community and increase social media activity, online reviews, search engine rankings and customer loyalty.

Abel will help attendees understand the capabilities of apps, including mapping golf courses, real-time menu updates, home listings and push notifications.

“Mobile applications represent an incredible opportunity to send information to consumers much more quickly than static or mobile websites,” Abel said. “They enable local businesses to punch at the weight of much larger corporate brands.”

RSVPs, or questions about the workshop, can be sent to jabel at jabberdesign dot com.

Abel founded JabberDesign in 2000.
