A Grand Rapids native has returned to the area and joined the podiatric practice where she shadowed her father as a child.

Foot & Ankle Specialists of West Michigan said last week it welcomed back Dr. Brianna David, a podiatrist and daughter of Dr. Michael David, the practice’s co-founder.

Brianna David will take appointments at the practice’s southeast Grand Rapids office, Greenville office and the Spectrum Wound Clinic.

“After years of hard work, it’s a dream come true to return to Grand Rapids and serve the community that I call home,” Brianna David said. “I grew up shadowing my dad, as well as the other Foot & Ankle physicians, and, from the very beginning, I always knew this is where I wanted to work.”

Brianna David comes home to West Michigan after a stint as chief resident at Mercy Health - St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. During her time at the level-one trauma center, she was trained in forefoot, reconstructive rear foot and ankle surgery. She also completed rotations in vascular, orthopedic, plastic and general surgeries, as well as infections disease and emergency medicine.

She earned her B.S. in human biology from Michigan State University and her doctorate in podiatric medicine at Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago.

“I am very proud of my daughter,” Michael David said. “She remained dedicated to the challenging work of her residency and developed exceptional skills to prepare her for this next step."

He added that she “brings tremendous value to not only our practice, but her added knowledge of lower-extremity trauma is a benefit to the West Michigan community."
