A new “Italian beef” restaurant has opened in Grand Rapids.

Big Willy’s Italian Beef opened Wednesday in Eastown, at 1450 Wealthy St. SE.

The “casual dining” restaurant prides itself on having no freezers and no microwaves and says “everything is fresh.”

Big Willy’s menu is highlighted by Italian beef sandwiches, as well as Italian sausages, Polish dogs and Chicago dogs.

The sausages and dogs are grilled on a charbroiler and prepared one of three ways: Run it Through the Garden, Sauerkraut or Maxwell Street.

The Run it Through the Garden option includes yellow mustard, green relish, chopped onion, tomato wedges, dill pickle spear, sport peppers and celery salt.

The Sauerkraut option includes mustard, onion and sauerkraut.

The Maxwell Street option includes mustard, grilled onion, sport peppers and celery salt.

Big Willy’s also serves hand-cut french fries and three flavors of Italian ice: lemon, strawberry and mango.
