Companies win national snow-management awards
Three local companies have been recognized by a national association for their work in the snow-management industry.
Grand Rapids-based DJ’s Landscape Management was awarded the Environmental Leader of the Year Award from the Snow & Ice Management Association, or SIMA, at the association’s annual symposium in Montreal, Quebec.
The award was given in recognition of DJ’s efforts in sustainable salt use and the incorporation of liquid deicers. The company also received the Safety Award for its high safety standards to protect employees, clients and the public during the snow season.
“This recognition symbolizes an important milestone in our team’s constant pursuit of safer and more sustainable grounds maintenance practices,” said Phil Van Straten, COO, DJ’s Landscape Management. “We are proud of our team for embracing new techniques and responding positively to change, as both habits are critical to delivering superior results to our clients.”
Byron Center-based Sneller Snow Systems was also given the Safety Award.
Grand Rapids-based Pro-Motion Consulting was given the Snow Industry Commitment Award for its contribution to snow and ice contractors.
DJ’s Landscape Management
DJ’s Landscape Management has more than 20 years of industry experience. Its offers various ground-management services: landscape construction; landscape management; plant heath care; irrigation; and snow and ice management.
Founded in 2008, Pro-Motion Consulting provides consulting, coaching and training to develop high-performing organizations and leaders.
Sneller Snow Systems
Founded in 1984, Snell Snow Systems provides snow-removal services to the Grand Rapids and Lansing areas. Its services include commercial snow plowing, snow hauling and removal, deicing, sidewalk snow removal and 24-hour weather monitoring.
The Milwaukee-based Snow & Ice Management Association was founded in 1996. It provides resources, leadership and support for industry professionals in snow and ice removal.
