A chain of fast-casual Mexican restaurants is opening a new location in the area.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is opening the location on Aug. 1 in Kentwood, at 6333 Kalamazoo Ave. SE.

The restaurant will give away a meal to the first 50 customers, as well as a steady stream of Chipotle “swag” throughout the rest of the day.

Chipotle’s menu is highlighted by burritos, but it also serves up a variety of items like tacos, salads and quesadillas.

The new location expects to hire 25-30 employees.

In the region, Chipotle also has two locations in Grandville and locations in Holland, Kalamazoo and Portage.

Chipotle opened its first restaurant in 1993 and now has more than 2,200 locations in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Chipotle restaurants are all company-owned.
