A Grand Rapids environmental consulting firm and one of its divisions have moved into an office on the West Side.

GZA GeoEnvironmental, which is headquartered in Massachusetts, and its division Rose & Westra have relocated to 601 Fifth St. NW.

The 3,100-square-foot office space is home to 12 staff members of GZA and Rose & Westra. The firm is leasing space from Energetix Properties LLC.

“The new office expands both our size and technological ability to support our continued growth and creates a unified presence within the western Michigan, Midwest and Great Lakes markets,” said Mark Westra, associate principal of Rose & Westra. He is head of the Grand Rapids office.

The move is a consolidation of the two firms’ offices. Rose & Westra was located in a 2,500-square-foot facility at 4328 Three Mile Road NW and GZA was located in a 1,000-sqaure-foot office space at 4181 44th St. SE. Rose & Westra was acquired by GZA last year.

“Neither of the prior locations were large enough for the combined staff, so we needed more space in a central location,” Westra said.

The firm hired one new person in May with the new office.

Founded in 1964, GZA is headquartered in Norwood, Massachusetts. The company, which provides geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water and construction services, has 600 employees and 28 offices. Rose & Westra was founded in 1990.
