A car dealership has its third location in the region.

Broadmoor Motors has opened its third location in Wayland, 159 N. Main St., to join its existing dealerships in Caledonia and Hastings.

A grand opening celebration will be scheduled for sometime in late August or early September, said Matt Koning, the Broadmoor Motor Group general manager.

Koning said the decision to open a dealership in Wayland came following his move to Dorr and the opportunity with a former lot coming up for sale. At the time, both the Caledonia and Hastings locations were doing well and the company was considering expansions.

“We were at that point of expanding one of the existing locations or starting a third,” Koning said. “We’ve had great success in small towns.”

Between the three locations, Koning said Broadmoor Motors offers an inventory of 120 listed cars currently, but he hopes to bring the inventory to 60 cars in Caledonia and 50 each in Hastings and Wayland.

The company also has a separate fleet of 50 rental cars, or Broadmoor Rent-a-Car, which are primarily used to help become entrenched in the communities, renting to body shops, churches and schools.

Koning said the main goal of Broadmoor Motors is to change the way the car dealership business is looked at by consumers.

“There’s lots of deception and it doesn’t need to be about that,” he said. “We don’t want you to leave a lot and feel unhappy or unsure if you just made the right decision.”
