A Grand Rapids real estate organization has won a national award for innovation.

The Grand Rapids Association of Realtors, or GRAR, said this summer it won the IBM Innovation Award for its website.

GRAR Application Support Specialist Larry Amond accepted the award this spring at the Common Users Group Annual Meeting & Expo in Orlando, Florida.

The award recognizes the website’s low cost of operation and the integration of back-end business and content management systems.

The GRAR project took the organization’s website from a Windows server to an IBM I server.

The entire GRAR team that worked on the project included Director of Information Services Rick Baumann, Technical Support Specialist Kristy Lubbers, Applications Programmer Brian Miller and intern Chris Schaefer.

Arbor Solutions helped develop the site as well.

The website’s creation was also featured in the trade journal IT Jungle.
