An outdoor retailer has leased a large space at a shopping center along a major retail corridor in town.

Cheyenne, Wyoming-based Sierra Trading Post will open next spring in a 20,000-square-foot space at the Shops at Centerpoint in Grand Rapids, at 3665 28th St. SE.

The store will be the chain’s first location in West Michigan. It also operates a store in Ann Arbor.

Sierra Trading Post, owned by TJX Companies, signed the lease on July 15, with Colliers West Michigan bringing the chain to town.

Colliers announced the deal in conjunction with Stonemar Properties, the owner of Shops at Centerpoint.

“West Michigan is home to many outdoor enthusiasts, and the surrounding region offers many opportunities to explore our diverse geography of lakes, rivers and forests,” said Mark Ansara, retail advisor, Colliers West Michigan.

The 575,000-square-foot Shops at Centerpoint features a number of retailers, such as TJ Maxx/HomeGoods, Nordstrom Rack, Old Navy and more, as well as six restaurants.

The shopping center is 93-percent occupied.

“We are transforming what is largely a underutilized common area into a new and vibrant retail space,” said Greg Guido, co-managing member, Stonemar Properties.
