A new entertainment center is set to open in the region.

Revel & Roll West is in the former location of Pinz Bowling Center in the University Commons Retail Plaza in Kalamazoo, at 4500 Stadium Dr. The bowling alley opened in 2011 and closed in 2017 after its lease ended.

Revel & Roll West will open on Sept. 8, with a maximum capacity of 2,400 people. It will have 78 workers, and it hopes to grow that number to about 100 by the holiday season.

Treystar, the owner of the shopping center, will spend about $4.75 million on the new project.

The 46,000-square-foot center will feature Legends, a 135-seat restaurant, an arcade with 53 games, a laser tag arena, a 78-foot-long sports bar, a 30-lane bowling alley with a five-screen projection area and three private rooms for parties and meetings.

"We want this place to be the entertainment center of Kalamazoo on the west side," said Robert Brown Jr., manager, Revel & Roll West.

"We want everyone in Kalamazoo to come here and have fun: whether you're a college student, whether you're a family, whether you're a bunch of guys who just want to go watch the Detroit Lions game or the Michigan game."

Revel & Roll West also wants to market itself as a location for businesses to conduct team-building events and off-site meetings. It is hoping to generate about 20 percent of its revenue from local companies.

Founded in 1969, Kalamazoo-based Treystar is a developer and manager of retail and office properties in Kalamazoo and Portage.

Revel & Roll West is Treystar’s first foray into an entertainment property.
