One of downtown Grand Rapids’ historic buildings is under new ownership.

The 60,000-square-foot Blodgett Building, at 15 Ionia Ave. SW, was purchased by T.A. Forsberg, an East Lansing-based real estate developer, from Ann Arbor-based Cabrio Group, according to JLL today.

The sale price was not disclosed.

JLL, a commercial real estate firm with an office in Grand Rapids, will manage leasing for the building.

“We recognize the weight of the opportunity at hand with the Blodgett Building and will utilize it to create something spectacular, which aligns with the evolving values, needs and desires of the city’s amazing downtown area,” said Brent Forsberg, president, T.A. Forsberg.

The Blodgett Building was built by lumber tycoon Delos Blodgett in 1886.

The property was fully renovated in the mid-‘90s to include restaurants, a coffee shop, banquet facilities, a conference room and a kitchen.

T.A. Forsberg has plans for additional renovations.
