There’s a new women’s clothing store at a local mall.

Torrid, which sells sizes 10 to 30, hosted its grand opening at Woodland Mall in Kentwood on Saturday.

The new store occupies a 3,000-square-foot space in the mall, at 3195 28th St. SE.

The space was formerly occupied by J.Jill, which moved adjacent to Ann Taylor because of a demand for more space.

Torrid is Woodland Mall’s first stand-alone store for “plus-size” fashions. Currently, Charlotte Russe, Forever 21, JCPenney and Macy’s have plus-size sections in their stores.

Lyndsey Hicks, marketing director at Woodland Mall, said Torrid “fills a need for plus-size fashion that our shoppers have been looking for.”
