A national women’s activewear retailer is planning a location in the core of a Grand Rapids suburb.

Grand Rapids-based CWD Real Estate Investment has signed a deal with Gap, Inc. to bring its Athleta brand to East Grand Rapids’ Gaslight Village.

San Francisco-based Athleta makes "performance" apparel for women and girls.

Scott Wierda, a managing partner at CWD, confirmed the deal in an email.

The exact location and opening date were not disclosed.

“Athleta is certainly consistent with our desire to bring first-to-market/unique shopping to our community,” Wierda said.

“Gaslight Village and the entire East Grand Rapids community was an area they loved from the moment they toured our market and were excited when we had a site opportunity open up for them.”
