Wireless power firm sells to California company

A Grand Rapids wireless power firm has been acquired by a similar company based in California.

Danville, Calfornia-based PowerSphyr said yesterday it acquired Grand Rapids-based Gill Electronics to help facilitate its development of advanced wireless technology solutions.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition of Gill Electronics will add engineering and manufacturing resources allowing PowerSphyr to send its products to market faster.

In an active market where many have been trying to convert the mobile charging market from predominantly wired to wireless, this acquisition will allow PowerSphyr to serve a larger and more diverse assortment of OEM customers in the automotive, consumer, industrial and health care markets,” said Will Wright, EVP of product development, PowerSphyr.

Gill Electronics is a founding and current board member of the Alliance for Wireless Power, or A4WP, and works on the "commercialization" of new wireless power products.

PowerSphyr offers wireless power consumer products as well as wireless power solutions for OEM device manufacturers.
