A West Michigan company that offers third-party human resources administration has acquired an out-of-state.

Portage-based Benefit Administrative Services International Corporation, or BASIC, said last week it is expanding its East Coast presence with the acquisition of Warwick, Rhode Island-based COBRA Administration and Health Services.

BASIC offers a number of services: health benefits; payroll; compliance; timekeeping; flexible spending accounts; and others.

COBRA Administration and Health Services, founded in 1999, provides complete outsourcing of COBRA and HIPAA administrative tasks.

BASIC, founded in 1989, works with more than 15,000 employers and has offices in Michigan, Ohio, Arizona, Florida, California, Missouri and Rhode Island.
