Construction firm hires VP
A local construction firm has a new vice president.
Grand Rapids-based Rockford Construction said last month it hired Mike Verhulst for the leadership position in its business development department.
Verhulst will help connect clients across Michigan to Rockford’s development, planning, pre-construction and construction services.
“I’ve known Mike for 20 years and have great respect for his knowledge and integrity,” said Mike VanGessel, CEO, Rockford Construction. “He will be a strong addition to our team.”
Verhulst brings with him 19 years of experience in the construction industry.
Most recently, he served as VP of business development and community relations for Grand Rapids-based Wolverine Building Group.
Previously, he served as the owner and president of Summit Landscape Management, which earned a Minority Small Business of the Year Award.
Verhulst also serves on a number of boards: the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce; Literacy Center of West Michigan; The Rapid; and Grand Valley Metro Council.
He is a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of Davenport University.
“I have always had a strong commitment to the community and to minority contractors, which is something I see mirrored in the work at Rockford,” Verhulst said. “I believe in the company’s mission and vision.”
