A Grand Rapids business association has honored a number of companies for their work in renewing business districts in the city.

The Neighborhood Business Alliance, or NBA, hosted its 28th-annual Neighborhood Business Awards last week at Wealthy Theatre in Grand Rapids to honor the "best" neighborhood businesses.

The event included a Taste of Our Neighborhoods reception, featuring samples from Creston Brewery, Furniture City Creamery, San Chez, SpeakEZ Lounge and Two Scotts BBQ.

Each year, the awards celebrate the “constant renewal of the business districts in Grand Rapids through the work of many neighborhood businesses and organizations,” according to the NBA.

“This long-standing celebration is the only event in the city that continually recognizes the hard work and dedication of our neighborhood business owners and other community stakeholders,” said Tim Syzmanski, president, Neighborhood Business Alliance. “We are proud to recognize the nearly 100 nominees who continually work to invest in their businesses and our city’s neighborhoods.”

The awards were presented by Mayor Rosalynn Bliss and members of the Grand Rapids City Commission.
