A local residential real estate firm is building a new 11,700-square-foot office in town.

Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Michigan Real Estate said today it will construct the two-story building in Grand Rapids Township, at 3000 E. Beltline Ave. NE.

The facility will be constructed next to an adjacent 8,500-square-foot building to create a “campus” to serve the firm’s real estate agents and be a new home for its corporate headquarters. The firm’s current headquarters is in Rockford, according to its website.

The new office building will feature modern workspaces for a growing agent workforce, while the existing building will house the firm’s corporate support staff.

The firm will hold a groundbreaking for the project on Friday, and it expects to finish the project next fall.

Abonmarche will serve as the architect on the project.

Grand Rapids-based DAR Development will serve as the project’s general contractor.
