A vacant big-box store in the region spanning 102,071 square feet is up for auction.

The former Macy’s department store in Battle Creek, at 5725 Beckley Rd. in Lakeview Square Mall, is available for auction at ten-x.com, with a starting bid of $150,000.

The space sits on an 8.04-acre lot.

The auction starts Dec. 11 and ends Dec. 13.

The property is serviced by a four-way interchange at I-96 and M-66, giving it high visibility from the freeway.

Other retailers in the area include Sears, Target, Kohls, Walmart, Lowe’s, Menards and Sam’s Club.

According to the auction listing, “this opportunity offers investors through stabilization or redevelopment a well-situated retail asset in excellent condition.”

Within a 15-mile radius from the property, there are about 139,873 people with an average household income of $62,394, according to ten-x.com.

Major employers in the area include DENSO Manufacturing, Kellogg Company, Post Cereals and Stanley Electric.

The minimum-bidder deposit is $25,000. Deposits must be placed by wire transfer only or cashier’s or participant agreement.
