Construction has begun on a new $22-million senior living facility in town.

Provision Living at Forest Hills will be a new building at the site of the former Southeast YMCA in Grand Rapids Township, at 730 Forest Hill Ave. SE.

The facility is expected to open in early 2019.

The leadership of St. Louis-based Provision Living believes Grand Rapids to be a “thriving living option for older adults near outstanding cultural, educational, spiritual and wellness opportunities.”

“We focus on excellence in three key areas of our business,” said Cindy Sorgea, marketing project manager, Provision Living.  “These include creating opportunities for growth and well-being for older adults, their families and our team members.

“This works best in markets that have a strong connection to community success and engagement, strong commitment to family well-being and a workforce that values the combination of professional excellence and purposeful work.

“We see these things in Grand Rapids.”

Provision Living will employ 75 part-time and full-time staff at the facility.

The company will begin recruiting its team members, including the executive director position, starting in early 2018 through the facility’s grand opening.

The leadership team will consist of professionals in business development, clinical services, physical plant management, customer care and support, dementia care, life enrichment and office management.

Staff will include professionals in the areas of dining and nutrition, resident care, housekeeping, concierge services, life enrichment and clinical care.

“We are excited to be here today to formally begin our journey in Grand Rapids,” said Todd Spittal, co-founder, Provision Living.

The two-story, 90,000-square-foot facility will accommodate about 116 residents in assisted living units, one- and two-bedroom apartments and memory-care studio units.

Amenities will include a beauty salon, exercise room, therapy space, movie theater, chapel, large common spaces and two dining rooms.

The community’s exterior design will feature landscaped courtyards, patios and walkways.
