A Grand Rapids-wide fundraising campaign is taking place tomorrow as an extension of Giving Tuesday.

The second-annual #GRgives invites individuals and businesses to make a donation to a local nonprofit.

The campaign is a collaboration among a number of organizations in the area.

Last year, nearly 300 nonprofits participated and more than $300,000 was raised.

“Last year’s campaign helped us tell the story of who we are and what we stand for to a new audience, while connecting us to our amazing volunteers and donors in our community,” said Claire Guisfredi, executive director, Rockford-based North Kent Connect.

“The donations we receive at the end of the year help us deliver essential services all year long, so we are so grateful for the people that give through the #GRgives campaign.”

Individuals and businesses can donate directly to nonprofits through #GRgives’ online directory.

Many organizations are also creating their own ways to raise money on Tuesday.

For instance, during Gordmans’ "gThanks" campaign, the "off price" apparel and home décor retailer will donate 10 percent of each store’s sales from 5 p.m. to close. The Grand Rapids store, at 4910 Wilson Ave. SW, is donating to Grand Rapids-based Kids’ Food Basket.

Express Employment Professionals of Grand Rapids, a staffing agency, is donating $25 to Family Promise of Grand Rapids for each application received on Tuesday.
