A neighborhood association is hosting its holiday shopping spree next week.

Uptown Grand Rapids will produce the 20th-annual Uptown Holiday Shop Hop from 4-10 p.m. on Dec. 7 at participating businesses in the East Fulton, East Hills, Eastown and Wealthy Street business districts.

Shuttles will run throughout the evening to transport shoppers between business districts.

The event brings more than 4,000 people to the Uptown corridor to kick off the holiday season by visiting some of the more than 150 participating businesses.

New to this year’s festivities is the addition of an event hub at the Fulton Street Farmers Market.

The hub will host 20 artisan vendors, an espresso bar from Lantern Coffee Bar, doughnuts from Rise GR and two food trucks: Blue Spoon and Patty Matters Gourmet Burger.

“We want to draw participants to the farmers market as a central location to meet up with friends, grab some food, find special holiday gifts, then catch the shuttle and hop around the district,” said Jen Shaneberger, Holiday Shop Hop event producer. “To make sure all attendees stop at the hub, we’re offering a free gift to those who do.”

The event will also feature carolers and Santa Claus.

Uptown Grand Rapids

Founded in 2009, Uptown Grand Rapids is managed by the Uptown Corridor Improvement Authority Board and the Uptown Business District Improvement Board.

The organization’s mission is to sustain four “vibrant urban neighborhood business districts” by promoting their businesses, enhancing public spaces, attracting and retaining new investment and engaging business and property owners in local decision-making.
