Burger chain partners with Meijer
A chain of burger restaurants is partnering with Meijer.
Walker-based Meijer said yesterday Wahlburgers will open new sites on Meijer superstore properties.
The first of the new Wahlburgers restaurants will open in Michigan and Ohio in 2018.
Wahlburgers will also be bringing food trucks to select Meijer locations.
The restaurant chain was founded by Paul Wahlberg, a chef and brother of actor Mark Wahlberg and actor Donnie Wahlberg.
The partnership was kicked off today with appearances by Mark Wahlberg at two Detroit-area Meijer stores.
Sports nutrition lines
Meijer also said yesterday Performance Inspired Nutrition, founded by Mark Wahlberg and nutritionist Tom Dowd, will begin offering its products at all Meijer locations next year.
The company brands itself as a provider of all-natural sports nutrition products.
“Today’s supermarket customers want quality, clean nutrition to support their active lifestyle and overall wellness, and they don’t want to make a separate stop to find meaningful sports nutrition products,” Dowd said. “Convenience wins in today’s retail world.”
Wahlberg said a portion of Performance Inspired Nutrition’s net profits go to charity each year.
“We are looking forward to getting involved with Meijer’s philanthropic programs,” Wahlberg said.
