Three organizations in the region are hosting an event downtown this month to celebrate International Women’s Day.

Amway, Inforum Michigan and Wolverine Worldwide announced they will host “Be Unstoppable,” an event celebrating International Women’s Day — which is March 8 — from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28.

The event will be held at DeVos Place in Grand Rapids, at 303 Monroe Ave. NW.

Tickets are available online.

“We are thrilled to be offering this event for the sixth year, along with our 2018 partners, Inforum and Wolverine Worldwide,” said Lynnette Collins, director of talent enablers, diversity and inclusion, Amway.

“The event invites attendees to come together to celebrate West Michigan as a great place to have a career and be supported by companies that support women. We are also proud to invite men into the conversation and engage them as allies through International Women’s Day, because men play and important role working alongside women in changing the work environment.”

Speakers

This year’s event will feature Dr. Debbye Turner Bell, a former Miss America, veterinarian, journalist, minister, motivational speaker, wife and mother who has served on numerous state and national boards.

She divides her time doing veterinary public relations, motivational speaking and television broadcasting.

Turner Bell will speak about the importance of men and women being advocates, champions and allies to one another.

Jeffery Halter will also speak at the event. He is a speaker, author and consultant who is president of YWomen, a strategic consulting company focused on engaging men in women’s leadership advancement.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring Dr. Bell and Mr. Halter to West Michigan to share their knowledge at this year’s event, as we work to provoke and inspire attendees to reach their goals,” said Terri Barclay, president and CEO, Inforum Michigan.

Also on the schedule

The event will include a panel discussion on how to have genuine conversations, moderated by Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss and featuring members of the host companies.

The event will also include workshops that focus on common workplace topics, including how to fail well, networking, self-acceptance and leading a values-driven life.
